ESINERGY: An Interreg Danube Project

“Empowerment of the stakeholders in the implementation of the Directive on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources in term of energy storages and energy networks stability

ESINERGY addresses a crucial challenge in modern energy systems: managing the imbalance between power generation and load, crucial for rising electrification and renewable energy production. The project introduces pilot approaches to reduce peak loads in electrical networks, promoting self-consumption by producers (e.g., via heat pumps, energy storage, charging stations, energy communities) to balance generation and demand. Subsequently, it enhances policy planning for peak loads through a transnational strategy, facilitating replication in other regions.

ESINERGY: An Interreg Danube Project

Description

ESINERGY aims to solve one of the key issues in modern energy systems: to manage the imbalance between the generated power and the load; effort which is necessary for the expected increases in electrification and renewable power production, and aims at doing so while considering grid constraints.

The project will introduce the pilot approaches to reduce the peak loads in electrical networks, so that the producers increase self-produced energy usage for own purposes (heat pumps, energy storages, charging stations, energy communities) and balance the differences of generation and demand. Afterwards, the policy planning referring to peak loads will be improved through a transnational strategy so that the measures can be replicated in other areas.
